In my previous post we talked about Digg recent changes to nofollow on all external links but is Digg really nofollow?
After taking a closer look Digg is still do follow or at least links from comments on old pages are. Here’s the proof:
If we browse Digg old pages we will see that many of them are heavily spammed with viagra, drug rehab and pharmaceutical links.I took my time and sent a email to Digg support letting them know about this, look what they said:
I thought that this is a auto generated email so i send them one more telling them that I am not very happy with their way to threat a user who tries to give them a little help. Here’s what they answer:
Digg obviously doesn’t want to give us more details about this update but i think they did a very lousy job when comes about spam.

Comment Spammers – U Comment I Don’t Follow
Today i received more than 100 spam comments and i made some changes. No more Do Follow for everyone, don’t worry this blog remains do follow but you need to have three approved comments to get do follow link.
I even installed KeywordLuv and CommentLuv and the comments quality really low,we need to improve that.I know that i am not updating my blog daily like i should.Lately i’ve been really busy but i promise that soon this blog will be updated daily.
I want a nice blog.I am a new blogger but i have in my opinion enough internet experience,a little knowledge about SEO and link building because i had several forums few years ago.I’m ready to learn more about blogging and how to do it properly. When i am posting something i really try to provide useful information and resources and i spend a lot of time doing researches and that’s why i want that my readers to bring something to the table.
Now let’s see what kind of comments i will not approve from now on.
Crappy comments like “nice article”, “really useful information”, “thanks for the list” will not get approved anymore. Please take your time and write something useful that adds some value to that post or discussion.
That doesn’t apply to my blog only but every blog you comment on..that’s why some many blogs turn to no follow. Remember, when a blog becomes no follow you lose that backlinks and after you don’t know why your PageRank is lower or your site had a huge drop in SERPS.
From my side this blog will remain do follow forever but we need certain rules so we both can benefit.
Now is anyone mad ?
