Digg,Reddit and Sphinn are the most important three social bookmarking sites in my opinion.Sphinn it’s niched more on SEO,Social Media,Link Building and Marketing,the others are niched on news.One of my daily questions is “Which social bookmarking site is the most important ? “

In this article I will analyze each site with his own advantages or disadvantages,also I will analyse some statistics and I will request your opinion.

A long long time , SEOs had think that .edu or .gov backlinks have more vaulue than a normal backlink,but beggining with 2010 .edu and .gov backlinks are not more valuable than normal backlinks.

In this video, Matt Cutts explain us that .edu and .gov backlinks don’t carry more weight than normal links. Myth officially busted !

I hope that you’ve observed that Matt had said : “It’s not like an edu automatically carries more weight or a link from a gov automatically carries more”.

Writing Search Engine Friendly Content

In my position as a Online Business Development ManagerI often get asked something along the lines of, ‘how should I write so my site gets found on search engines’ or something along these lines. There is generally do definitive answer to this, no ‘do this and you’ll be fine’ instead this is generally what I advise.

The first thing to remember is that ‘Search Engine Optimisation’ (or SEO for short) is not an exact science, there are things that we can do (and you) to try and influence the position of your website in search engine rankings but at the end of the day it’s down to Google (or Yahoo, or MSN etc) and not us to decide which site goes where in the listings. There are over 100 different factors that the search engines take into account when deciding the position of a web site, a good web developer will generally concentrate on the most important of those factors. Many of the things that influence the rankings are not even visible to the average user of the website. Things like page titles, hidden meta data, number of inbound links to the site etc. have a very large influence but don’t worry a good web developer will take care of this part for you.

As you may or may not know, the actual written content of your website is important and this is where you can actually help towards the SEO of the site. Simply write your content (or use a skilled copywriter) to ensure a number of your ‘Keywords and Key-phrases’ are used throughout. These are the important words on your site that you want to get found for in Google for searches and also similar and related searches. A keyword might be something like ‘jewellery’, whilst Key-phrases are usually a combination of 2, 3 or 4 keywords, for example ‘sterling silver jewellery’. Ideally we want the key-phrases to be in the same order that someone might actually type them into Google. Here are some basic guidelines for the descriptions.

  • Remember that the content is for end user and should be clear to them.
  • Use keywords and key-phrases frequently to increase search engine positions for these. (This makes the page seem more relevant to the search engines for people searching for these words and phrases).
  • However don’t over use them, so that it doesn’t read well or just looks weird, make sure it flows and sounds natural.
  • Keep the descriptions relevant to product.
  • Be direct. Use short sentences. Break up the text with line breaks. Search engines don’t actually bother reading punctuation or line breaks but for users, it’s easier to read if it’s spaced out and not one big chunk of text.
  • Use lists if appropriate; these are concise and easy to read.
  • Don’t be afraid to repeat a little bit to get your point across, this could mean summarising with a final sentence or paragraph containing important keywords. However, it’s important to ensure that it doesn’t look weird or out of place.
  • Up to 300 words on the page is ideal for most products and services. If there’s not much to say then it’s not always good to put something there just for the sake of it.

I’ve seen a lot of lists with plugins that can help you to integrate social media into your blog ,but all those lists are listing around 10 or 15 plugins . There are hundreds of plugins on the internet that you should use for integrating social media or social bookmarking  on your blog,plugins that helps you to post your articles on different social bookmarking sites like Digg.com or Reddit.com , or that helps you to share your posts with your friend for many social media sites.

Twitter plugins :

Allows you to integrate TwitterCounter.com badges on your blog. Additionally, you can add the Twitter Remote to your blog, which shows which twitter users recently visited your blog or website. Manually add where you would like to display the badge / remote or use the WordPress sidebar widgets instead.

The application will display the latest tweet from all of the active accounts and then displays those latest tweets in date order. So the newest tweet across all of the accounts will always be shown first. It is also possible to switch between allowing/disallowing PM (Private Message) tweets to be included in the display.

If your titles are really long, they get cut off at 136 characters with “…”. Customize under Settings > Tweet This. Includes your choice of six buttons.

Ultimately plugin’s goal is to give the commenter the option of sending their comment to twitter and allowing people to follow that blogs comments both in the blog and in twitter. The main reason for this is to generate a buzz and encourage commenting on peoples blogs. It will also improve the quality and value of people’s tweets revolving around blog posts.

Facebook plugins :

This plug-in will import all the comments that are written on Facebook to your blog to the exact post such that you can see all the comments that are been made for a particular post directly in your WordPress blog. By this way you will not miss a single comment made on your post and it automatically updates the comments.

You can update your states on various social networking sites at once and also invite all your friends on various networks to visit and join in your blog site.

This plug-in allows you to add photos to the posts directly from the Facebook. All that you have to do is install and activate the plug-in and link your Facebook account with the WordPress blog. After that when you edit a new post in WordPress, a new Facebook icon in the add media section will be present – by clicking on the icon you can see the photos that you have uploaded to your Facebook account. You can then insert the photos to the post as small, medium and large size and can also align the image position.
