Digg,Reddit and Sphinn are the most important three social bookmarking sites in my opinion.Sphinn it’s niched more on SEO,Social Media,Link Building and Marketing, the others are niched on news. One of my daily questions is “Which social bookmarking site is the most important ?

In this article I will analyze each site with his own advantages or disadvantages, also I will analyse some statistics and I will request your opinion.

Sphinn

Alexa Rank : 6.660

Page Rank :  6

Dofollow :  Yes

One of the advantages of sphinn.com it’s that this site is niched on SEO , Social Media and Marketing and all members of Sphinn.com are posting articles related to SEO.This is a unique social networking platform aimed specifically at marketers and it’s one of the few places where you can go for up to date marketing advice. There’s no need to check out dozens of different blogs to get the information, instead you can read this one resource.

Digg

Alexa Rank : 99

Page Rank :  8

Dofollow :  Yes

The basic idea for the Digg site is that when you find an interesting story or web page, you “Digg-it” and let others know about it.Digg.com is te largest of the social bookmarking sites. On Digg.com thousands of stories are submitted each day,if your story reach the first page you can get thousands of visits with that article.

Reddit

Alexa Rank : 366

Page Rank :  8

Dofollow :  Yes

Reddit is a community based news site that focuses on what’s new and popular on the web. You vote items up and down and their position on the front page of reddit moves accordingly.Reddit is the no-thrills version of social news. It has a simple design that is easy to use, but it could also compete for one of the ugliest websites.I really don’t like the design of Reddit.com.

In your opinion , which the best social bookmarking site between those sites ?

I would have to say none of them. I try to limit my time with social bookmarking because I think that time is better spent working on SEO, content, and design so I can get more search traffic. The traffic that comes from those sites is rarely convertible into sales or clicks so I don’t put too much effort into it.

I am NOT an SEO expert but for what it’s worth, Digg has worked the best for me.

I am not a heavy user of any of them but pieces I submitted to Digg show up pretty fast.

Have to agree with Keith, although if you have an article or news that is interesting then you can really explode it into many inbound links through reddit and digg. Seems odd to compare Sphinn to these sites though. Digg over Reddit.

    For me, Sphinn.

For Joe public and clients, probably Digg over Reddit.

For SEO purposes, probably Reddit over Digg purely because it’s less elitist. Unless it’s a big SEM contract I’d be unlikely to use any of these sites to be honest. Sphinn doesn’t factor in.

I rarely use any of the three. As Keith pointed out, most of the traffic received is untargetted and converts poorly. Any boost in visitors I see is usually short lived. My time is better spent in developing content. And reading cool blogs.

Digg has worked well for me…I don’t know much about sphinn…it is good for interactive marketers I hear.

For me Digg worked better than other two social bookmarking sites. Digg is really great for quick indexing in Google as well as to provide target traffic to your site. But regarding traffic it’s not so easy to achieve. You need to be on the first page and for that others need to digg your post!

I am completely confused about social bookmarking because some say its essential and others say its mostly a waste of time. I have used it but with not much result although Digg seems to get indexed very fast. Its very time comsuming so I really don’t know whether to keep on doing it.

I always heard that social bookmarking is very much useful today to drive traffic but I admit it’s really a tough job and time consuming. I tried digg and the next day I woke up I can see that my blog was already indexed to google. This is my first time to hear sphinn so I better try with it and see some results.

I would have to agree with the comment Keith (the first poster) made. Content is king and link building follows close behind. Social bookmarking and networking is more the kind of thing for sites that are already successful and have a reputation to work from. IMO, if you submit all your own sites, you get screwed. That is why you need your readership to do all your social bookmarking for you.

I agree with the three sites. Though i like digg the most.
