Good Backlinks – Backlinks to avoid

A backlink is an inward link to your site that may or may not be reciprocated with an outward link back. If page A links to page B then a back link would be a link which goes from page B back to page A.

here are the backlink that you must avoid

Which are the backlinks to avoid ?

  • Backlinks from link farms, link exchanges, and similar groups (buying, swapping, and giving away links simply to generate links). In Google’s eyes, any types of link schemes are not approved and can seriously decrease your rankings.
  • Bad Neighborhoods(Backlinks from bad sites) – Porn, gambling or drug sites (banned by search engines and also your site if you link to it).
  • “I’ll link to your blog if you link to my oth blog , so you get one link to your blog and i also receive a backlink” is called a Triangular Linking Scheme (can be penalized/banned).
  • If the backlinks on that page have a rel=”nofollow” tag on them the search engines won’t give you credit for the link .
  • The website takes forever to load (too many ad banners, etc.) and search engines won’t wait. The website is poorly designed and has broken code, etc. (it may not be indexed)
  • Free for All Links -they allow anyone to post a link unreviewed which results in unrelated and spammy links (banned by search engines and also your site if you link to it)
  • Sidebar or footer links. Search robots place very little importance on the links situated in Blogroll or in footer, those links may generate some new traffic but those links are not an effective way to increase your Page Rank. Backlinks within the site content are best.

here is something that you must know about good backlinks

Which are good backlinks ?

A good backlink is basically a link that comes from a good site that has a similar theme to the one it points to.

Some of the best ways to get quality links is:

  • Listing your site to directories like DMOZ, Yahoo etc.
  • Inclusion of your site links with articles in article sites.I’ve included some links in one of my articles to others articles : “See example”
  • Creating your own blogs or listing your website in blogs with high traffic and quality content that visitors love to read.I have a dofollow list on my blog ,there are many blogs with high page rank , if you have your blog there you might get some nice traffic.
  • Forum posting with the use of targeted anchor text for your sites.I’ve also poste a dofollow forums list, using that list you can get some good backlinks posting on forums with high Page Rank.
  • Link exchange or keywords as anchor tags with sites of your own domain avoiding link farms and irrelevant pagerank.
  • An effective professional Press release that can provide something announcing to the visitors. Though difficult press releases do contribute in providing quality back links to your website .

I am going to have to disagree with a couple of these, respectfully.

Forum sigs are probably the lowest on my list of acceptable links (maybe a close tie with directories) because the pages the links appear on are so deep they don’t have any PR. Dropping links in forums may get you some traffic though, which is good.

Not all search engines adhere to rel=nofollow attribute, yes I know Google appears to do this, but even that is unclear.

Also, I do agree with the sidebar and footer links. Obviously the best links are “natural” links surrounded by content in the body of a page that you had no control over…

    Nice article…

You just write what I also agree with the points. Google is now a day is paying attention on quality link. As you said above that link on sidebar is not so valuable, yes I also completely agree with it.

By analyzing the links of my competitors I come to understand that the link from article submission site is the quality link as the links come from the relevant topics of our blog.

I agree that link building is a good strategy to boost your Search Engine ranking as Search Engines look more favourably on websites that have other websites linking back to it. The Search Engines see this as validation of your website. Dear nice blogger thanks for your post. I agree with the no follow tag. At the same time if I get 15 do follow back links for my website through article posting, blog or directory whatever it may be, Google will not display the websites linked with the website. May I know why?

  7. Amit (4 comments) says:

DMOZ, Yahoo, business.com are good directory, Search engine trust them. link building is a regular process but we need to look for Quality links.
    look for dofollow links.

@Jayce.. search engine dont see ur div ids where u named it footer or header.. it wants to see ur links into main content body.. links surrounded by main content of the page.. you can say it contextual link is a good one.

Great tips on creating good links for your site. It is easy to come across bad links. A little harder to come across good links which I guess is the reason google and the search engines recognize it.

  30. Joe (3 comments) says:

I have to say I think that your article is not very good. You skim over some of the important points and cause confusion when it comes to talking about penalties and bans. It is easy to pick a penalty up but very difficult to be banned from Google and anyone who links to a linkfarm should be shot, not banned. But they way it is written suggests that links from linkfarms can be bad…wait I am just about to blast the competition and get rich..

Also, ‘creating your own blogs’ – are these just for building links? This smells like a network of sites [link scheme] that you are building and that can get you penalised [penalised - not banned]

Thank you for all the information. Love all the help we can get. Our site is fairly new and is getting a pretty good amount of traffic, however, we understand that backlinking is one of the most important aspects of seo and we could use all the lists and advice we can find. I’ve grabbed your lists of “dofollows” and will use them accordingly. Whitehat seo takes longer, but is best for sure.
