Domaining might be considered as a bussines, because it can bring a very beautiful “salary” (if we can call it this way).Domainers ar the persons that are buying some domain names (premium domains) and resell them for a good price.
Are a lot of sites that are administrating auctions for domains or premium domains . One of the most important sites that are administrating auctions is SEDO , here you can Park,Sell,Buy or make a auction for your domain. You can see the name of the domain and you can bid for it . Today, the biggest price i’ve seen in their list is 25.000$ for locations.fr .
A good domain name can help you in your site’s SEO . If you have a domain name that includes a keyword of your site/blog , you can get a higher position in SERP.In this video it’s explained this “tip”,you can see how the name of your domain can influence your SERP.
Many different factors help determine a domain name’s relative worth. Some of these factors include:
Brevity – If you have a short domain name it’s easy to remember and also it’s more easy when you tipe it into a browser.
Keywords – Domains that contain or consist of frequently searched keywords or terms provide an immediate SEO advantage. This means that keyword-rich domains actually help boost the site’s search engine ranking for the particular term or terms.
Ease-of-rememberance – Domains that are easy to remember are worth more, simple as that Getting customers to your site is also an expensive process and it’s very dificult.
Marketability - The relative likelihood that a given domain will succeed in a given market combined with the profit potential and competition in said market determines its marketability.
- Examples of Premium Domains :
-Competition.com . This domain is for sale and it’s priced at $450,000.
-Optimize.com . Also a domain for sale , this domain is priced at $90,000.
You can find free premium domain name that you might buy for 15$ and you can resell it for $10,000 (for example). To do this you need a lot of time and you need to be patient,a good premium domain name it’s not so easy to find.
4 steps to find a nice Premium Domain Name :
- Step 1 - Try to find a domain with .com extension. You must find some domain names with less than four digits, those domains can bring to you houndreds of dollars or even thousands.
- Step 2 - Look for memorable domain names. Some of your visitors might be interested about your posts, but they don’t remember every site’s link ,if you have a domain name easy to remember those visitor will remember your site’s link and will visit your blog/site more often.
- Step 3 – If a one word domain name in a .net , .org , .us or .com extension comes up,snatch it immediatly. The premium domains with .com extension are the most valuable.
- Step 4 – Search for random four letter domains with the .com extension.Random four letter domains are alson very valuable ,a domain with premium letters can bring to you up to a thousand dollars.
At “Step 4″ i’ve writed something about premium letters . Many of you don’t know what are “Premium letters” or which are those letters.
Premium Letters
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T
Semi-premium Letters
J, K, U, V, W
Anti-premium Letters
Q, X, Y, Z

With regards to brevity, are there any hard and fast rules on this? I know we can’t set a character limit, but I know a few domains that are quite long, but memorable because they are a clever phrase.
As far as I know (which isn’t much) most visitors would come though clicks, not directly typing the address, so should it make a huge difference?
Yes, domaining is another investment opportunity but the market has slowed down considerably over the past few years. I do not believe it is not easy to get a good premium domain for $15; I would say 99.9% of premium domains are gone by now.
I didnt know any of this, thanks for teaching me something new. great. have digged
Thanks for sharing. great info
Deed is right for the most part, back in the mid-late 90’s this business was HUGE (at least the buying part was) from folks that saw the opportunity early. To do it now, you REALLY have to know what you are doing.

There are some good domains still out there. Whatever you do don’t believe the values you get from automated services. Commonsense will get you far further. They can help as screening tools though.

A good domain name is obviously important for all the reasons you have mentioned but it’s not the be all and end all of Google SEO. There are a lot of other factors which will boost your Search Engine Ranking such as your keyword strategy your link profile, updating your content regularly and so forth.
Its so breve to be a dominer . If there is some creative thoughts everyone can be so…..
I’ve got a really good domain that i love, and i’m thinking of turning it into a blog, but its a .co.uk, which sucks as i wont be able to target the whole world with my blogging.
As i’m new to this, i’ll start with my little UK domain, and wont expect to much from traffic, but i should learn loads to prepare me for the leap onto the worlds stage.
what’s the maximum number of characters that a domain name can have…?
@Betty – Ack!! Change your mindset as you may have incredible niche opportunities!
I don’t know what the name or niche is for this domain, but whatever it is, research it a lot in the UK and hit it hard! Know what I mean?

@wedding – unlimited, but the key is to make it memorable – one word is premium, two words can be really good if short enough, three words max but keep it short and memorable.
Now that said, mine is 4 (lol) but perfectly descriptive to my niche and memorable.

Nice post. Here is the question to every one. This is applicable to me (unfortunately!)
I have a domain name that is local trademark of a famous retailer in India. While they contacted me, they said they will come back for purchase but have not turned up. Is there any legal issues in pursuing pvt. registered domain names in India? Please let us know.

Nice article. It gave me idea about how to sell a domain. Thanks for sharing.
I was fooling around with the type in 4 letters it was kind of fun but all the ones I found were “for sale” for a LOT of money. Same with single double word combo’s.

Hi,
Thanks for the post. But my question is if I register a domain with more than 2 keywords ex:”creditcardfraudprotectionsolution.com” what will happen to my SERP? I can read some where that we do not register a domain like this..
thanks in advance

I fail to understand WHY so many people would not prefer to buy a good domain from someone else and instead go and register MY-BEAUTIFUL-NAME-IS-WHAT-IM-PROUD-OF dot com just because it costs $10 and the one selling costs $200, and they want to skimp.
Well, if your “web business” is only worth $10 to you, don’t complain if you don’t make money!
PS: Real world businesses cost $thousands to set up. Should you expect anything less just because this is online?

amazing
very useful
All informative. Thanks for sharing.
@Modern Street
I think a lot of people do buy the $200 domain but if you’re just starting out you may not be ready for that or they could be like me and it is thought of as a game and not a money making thing.
There’s probably a different reason for each different person.

I don’t “domain” but I do own too many domains that I thought I might do something with, just like that project boat I bought that year and it sat in the yard for several years before hauling it off to the junkyard!
I wanted to ask about hyphens in domain names. I currently have one in mine, but I wanted to keep it 2 words and simple with my main keyword in it.

Very good post…It contains lot of information which is new to me…I did not know about domaining. will surely give it a try, If the income is good.

The buying and selling of domains has become big business over the last 10 years. A clever entrepenuer can make thousands simply from tagging and buying the right name. I remember that someone once bought the rights to 21st century Fox, that caused the company a massive headache for years, until it was settled.
Building up a big authority for your domain can pay dividends in the long run, a well run site, with large views and subscriptions number will help add value.
It is amazing one..
